Websense And Why its Just Plain Wrong(JPW)

Recently I decided to do some research on the school computers.
and while I was searching Google I found my site and decide to print it,so like any other day I clicked it,To my surprise it was ""Blocked" for being "UntasteFull",I will tell you thats "Bullshit".
I also got this:

"what the hell,AM i under arrest now,I just wanted some info on how religion affects economy".

I Also got this:
"The site you have requested has been blocked because it does not comply with the filtering requirements as described by the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)"

Well I will tell you that is in the book of Just Plain Wrong(JPW).

So what is Websense, well its basically A large team of workers that cruise the internet all day marking things "untastefull". That then enters there list of Naugggghhty sites and boom we cant visit them. Whats worse is the Goverment sees nothing wrong with this,as A matter of fact they hired Websense to do this FOR ALL USD SCHOOLS.
Now thats Untastefull.

Musik Cube Review

Recently I got tired of iTunes for whatever reason and decided to try to find an open source version of it. I stumbled onto Musik Cube which is built on SQL. Once I was finished downloading the 2.7 MB file (notice a LOT smaller then iTunes, but will it pack as much?)I ran the setup which was highly customizable and ran through in a jippy, and launched the program.

As this was the first time I had launched the program ,it gave me a dialog box which asked which folders I wanted to synchronize, Naturally I chose my iTunes Music Folder.
It imported all of my song with one problem. You see I have a tendency to update my ID3 Tags the minute A new version comes out, this being the case they were version 2.4. MusikCube being in Beta only supports up to 2.3, I quickly fixed this by downgrading my ID3 tags via iTunes. And then returned and in the right click menu found the Reload from tags command, which overall was one of my favorite commands.

Other Features

After this My Music Collection sat in Musik Cube just like it did in iTunes, Perfect.
So now I decided to play around with the other features.

Dynamic Playlists: Musik Cubes version of Smart Playlists. It comes with 5 preset ones and in order to make your own you must know SQL.

Overall although Musik Cube has a long way to go before it can be a true iTunes competitor it is BASSICALLY complete.It also dosent support videos.

I’m really eager to find out what service the iPhone will use. We already know it can’t use cingular for obvious reasons. So lets imagine what the other possibilities are:

T-Mobile=While they usually have stylish phones, there service is horrible, anyway in L.A or should I say Cupertino CA. And I would really hate to see Apple release a Phone with a T-Zones Button on it, It would kill the Apple sensation.

Verizon= Service is expensive but great. Phones are good.

Well if the do then it would be very cool some of the features I expect:

iCal integration via iSync:you would be able to associate dates with people and most likely the color coded calendars will be transfered too.

Address Book:would auto transfer completely to youre phone so no more keying in contacts on the small ABC mode keyboard.

Many Accessories:as with the whole iPod product line.

Games and Apps via Apples website and many third party companies with the SDK.

An iPod built in: yup

Cingular will drop the soap: yup, ther cant be a partial iPhone and a full one.

Will be better the a Blackberry: yah well Blackberry sucks.

Verizon: I Hope(never gonna happen).

Bluetooth:this would explain the rumors.

Video playback:I hope.

Recently I decided to try out the "Web based desktop system called Eye OS,which is basically an OS from youre Browser,and may I say I think there is finally some competition in the OS beauty department (watch our Mac OS X)
but back to business,as an online OS I expected it too have a calendar and a calculator,But never did I even dream that it would have a built in Browser.This browser worked very well. Although this is only a temporary thing to be used when you are away from home I would rather use this browser over Internet Explorer any day.so basically here I was browsing in a browser which was already in a browser.Eye OS also had a pretty nice word proccessor,that kinda resembeld wordpad.
Overall I liked this OS because it uses A lot of AJAX and is very custsomizable

Well it looks like the French have decided to crack down on Apple,because of what they are calling "incompatibility issues".The french are trying to get Apple to open up there music store to other players,therefore making Fairplay completely useless.Of course if Apple refuses then they loose a whole country of music fans.

Recently,when I went back to school,I noticed that the teachers were using a new method of keeping attendance.When I peeked over my English teachers shoulder I saw she was using firefox(keeping in mind she is not a Tech savvy person).I was amazed,and asked myself,why would someone who has no idea what the hell firefox is,click on it rather then on the much more remebered and probably used at home Internet explorer.It had to been because they were instructed to???I also asked myself many times why the computers in the library have firefox installed and set on the desktop??? Obviously one man or woman that is pretty high on the chain, said you know what from now on we are gonna give these kids a choice.
I imagine it went like this:

Guy in charge of enforcing new system:"As you all know we are here to discuss the new electronic system that we will be using to keep attendance. so from now on at the beginning of each class you will sit down in front of the computer and click this special tool for attendance"(POINTING TO FIREFOX!!!!!!).

****note**** Now most people have no idea what the f*** firefox is,So the teachers being the retards that they are,accepted.

"and then in this box(POINTING TO ADDRESS BAR)you will type SO AND SO.edu".

The funny thing is when I looked over her shoulder I saw the address bar was yellow,which meant that they were using the HTTPS protocol. Not to mention this was not just one teacher this was many,One by one I watched in disbelief as they all clicked Firefox.The problem was ,I didn't understand why you would install something on you're system(firefox)when essentially you already have something that you know how to use preinstalled(Internet Explorer).Maybe someone broke into there system using a flaw that was in internet explorer.One fly in the ointment(as dvorak said when proposing apple switching to windows)What about Microsoft,education is quite a market today.If suppose all the districts switched to firefox it would be a huge blow,and worst being that firefox is open source which meen that the government has every right to implement its own version(IM thinking NSA firefox).Remember when the government decided to try Linux A.K.A NSA LinuX.There is a world of questions and possibilities.

Review of Songbird(iTunes Killer)

Today I am Reviewing Songbird.As you all may know,when rumors first started of songbird,it was proclaimed an iTunes Killer,Which is a big label to be putting on something before it even comes out(talk about pressure).Songbird tested fairly well on basic "jukeboxeness".When first opened up ,Songbird asked me to scan a specific folder for music(I of course choose my iTunes Music Folder),it instantly picked up all the songs and there ID3 tags and populated my library with them,performing faster then iTunes in a situation like this.I quickly decide to test out the playback functions ,and saw that everything was in order.While testing something caught my eye,a device tab at the top of the file menu,could this be the iPod integration that I have long awaited in a third party app?????
I was saddened to find that being in beta alpha pre-release means you're not expected to do too well.Though overall I liked using it a lot,It is still not ready for the spotlight.
